Architecture is the organisational framework that is linked to business processes to standardize data collection, stockpiling, transformation, distribution, and utilization. The framework is designed to protect sensitive data while allowing authorized users to access the most relevant portions at the appropriate time. The data architecture precepts on which the proposed framework is based recognize data to be an asset that is accessible, easy to share, controllable, and safe.

Data architecture is used by enterprises to convert business requirements into information and application requirements, align business procedures with IT systems, and maintain the complex circulation of data and information within the organization. Given the emergence of fresh business models and inventions that are progressively being driven by data and innovation, data architecture is labeled as both a technical and commercial decision in a 2017 trends survey.

A Data Architect considers all data sources relevant to business operations and develops a design to incorporate, centralise, and maintain the data. A Data Engineer, on the other hand, is in charge of developing and testing financially viable Data Architectures for the organisation to facilitate data search and retrieval. To create solid data architecture, data architects collaborate closely with data engineers.


A bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field is the bare minimum qualification requirement for a Data Architect. Data management, programming, design phase, big data advancements, systems analysis, and areas of research and development should all be covered in the coursework.
